From June 18 to 20, 2025, a comprehensive final inspection, documentation, and validation process was conducted for the Local Government Support Fund – Support and Assistance Fund to Participatory Budgeting (LGSF-SAFPB) FY 2024 projects in the municipalities of Godod and Leon B. Postigo, Zamboanga del Norte. Spearheaded by dedicated personnel from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office IX, namely Engr. Jhon Eduard Obordo, and Project Evaluation Officers Allan Pelong and Janrie Dalumpines, along with Engr. Frederik Tulse Ocupe from the Zamboanga del Norte Field Office, the activity focused on vital Level III water projects.

The LGSF-SAFPB is a flagship program aimed at empowering LGUs, particularly those in underserved areas, by funding community-identified projects. For Fiscal Year 2024, a significant portion of the fund has been allocated to Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WaSH) initiatives, with emphasis on establishing sustainable water supply systems. A Level III classification refers to a water system that provides individual household connections, representing a significant advancement in public health and convenience for the beneficiary communities. During this final inspection, 100% completed projects in this area were successfully inspected.

During the three-day assessment, the DILG teams verified the completion and functionality of the water systems through on-site inspections and a thorough review of project documentation, financial records, and compliance requirements.

An essential part of the oversight was stakeholder engagement. DILG personnel conducted interviews with Vice Mayor Samuel Labad of Godod and Mayor Runie Jamora of Leon B. Postigo, who shared insights on the projects’ planning, execution, and local impact. Direct interviews with residents also gathered feedback on the accessibility and reliability of the systems, affirming the program’s goal of delivering tangible benefits to the community.

This final inspection, paired with meaningful engagement from local leaders to grassroots constituents, reflects the DILG’s strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and the effective delivery of services under the LGSF-SAFPB program in Zamboanga del Norte.
