The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region IX successfully conducted the groundbreaking ceremonies in preparation for the construction of the DILG Regional Office IX Complex located at President Corazon C. Aquino Regional Government Center, Barangay Balintawak, Pagadian City.
The groundbreaking activity conducted last August 10, 2017 was graced by Regional Director Paisal O. Abutazil, Assistant Regional Director Pedro G. Cuevas, Jr., Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Governor Antonio H. Cerilles, Pagadian City Mayor Romeo P. Pulmones, Dumalinao Municipal Mayor and League of Municipalities Zamboanga del Sur Chapter President Junaflor S. Cerilles, DILG IX Regional and City officials and employees and heads of offices of partner National Government Agencies and stakeholders, among others.
In his message, Director Abutazil stressed that the construction of the Regional Office (RO) building is a dream come true for both the management and the employees considering that DILG in the region has ever since been renting its office building.
“DILG Region IX will finally have a place that we can call our own. The new Regional Office building will not only be home to its officials and employees but of the local government units as well, so we must take care of it,” Director Abutazil said.
Director Abutazil further emphasized that the construction of the DILG Regional Office is a priority and that the groundbreaking is only the start of the realization of a long-time dream.
For his part, Governor Cerilles conveyed his felicitations to the DILG IX personnel and encouraged the same to continuously work with the LGUs.
“Generally, we in the LGUs need the DILG to provide us the necessary guidance and technical advice whenever needed,” Governor Cerilles emphasized. He further added that the presence and the role of the DILG is vital considering its wide scope of operations.
The P27.8 Million DILG Regional Office IX Complex funded under the FY 2016 Appropriations, is expected to be completed within the last quarter of 2018.
