The Department of the Interior and Local Government Region IX recently conducted a three-day workshop on the Roll out of Barangay Information Systems (BIS) and SubayBAYAN last July 17-20 at Hotel Guillermo, Pagadian City.

The workshop was attended by the City and Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (CLGOOs, MLGOOs) in the region to keep them aware on the latest development on the BIS and the recently formulated online platform termed “SubayBAYAN”.

The participants were oriented on the latest modules of the Barangay Information Systems (BIS) which is a web-based application composed of multiple online systems designed to maintain information on all barangays.

Information such as barangay profiles, complaints against barangay officials, death benefit claims, Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB), and Barangay Full Disclosure Policy Portal (BFDPP) are incorporated in the BIS to have ease in access.

The participants were also oriented in the online platform “SubayBAYAN” that would enable the general public to access and monitor the department’s various Locally Funded Projects (LFP) in the municipalities.

Projects such as “Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig Para sa Lahat” (SALINTUBIG), Assistance to Municipalities (AM), Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CGMP), Recovery Assistance to Yolanda (RAY) and many more can now be publicly accessed in real-time information including financial and physical status. The online platform also enables stakeholders and beneficiaries to post comments and share information through social media.

These two platforms aim to provide easy access to information for the public and a tool for transparency among local government projects to discourage or stop corruption in the local government units.
