Effective communication serves as the pathway to influencing and connecting with people. The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX organized a public speaking conference for its entire staff last September 4, 2023. All employees gathered in the conference hall to participate in a training workshop aimed at reshaping their perspectives on public speaking. This conference took place at the DILG Regional Office IX in Pagadian City. The primary objective was to provide all DILG IX personnel with the essential skills required to deliver compelling messages in front of any audience. The conference had a profound impact on self-confidence, reducing stage fright, and addressing feelings of nervousness, ultimately unlocking the potential for the development of new skills.
The conference commenced with an inspirational message from Assistant Regional Director Engr. Carmelo Enrique B. Libot, CESO V, who expressed his wholehearted support and emphasized the significance of public speaking. He underscored the preparedness of every DILG IX employee for any public speaking engagements they might encounter.
Mentoring the conference is Marione Paul V. Paner, Assistant Division Chief of the Local Government Capacity Development Division (LGCDD). With his expertise, he has assumed the role of nurturing the minds of the department’s employees, instilling in them a deep understanding of the importance of public speaking. Through his guidance and wealth of knowledge, participants have gained valuable insights and practical skills that extend beyond the surface, fostering their growth and development in the realm of effective communication.
He meticulously engraved every part of the process, not only addressing stage fright but also delving into the most intricate details of becoming a proficient public speaker. This included gestures, handshaking exercises to release stress and shaking, and even the art of controlled breathing through shouting. These crucial elements were thoughtfully imparted and ingrained in the minds and hearts of every individual. As a result, each participant left the conference not only with newfound confidence but also armed with practical techniques to excel as effective public speakers.
This conference was a significant step towards empowering individuals within the department to become more effective communicators, and it serves as a reminder that continuous learning and self-improvement are essential in any professional journey.
The conference not only boosted self-confidence and reduced stage fright but also equipped every individual with the tools and knowledge needed to excel in the art of public speaking.
