Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region IX Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) Executive Committee convened on May 28, 2026 at the One Cecilia Building, Pagadian City to discuss initiatives and strategies geared toward further improving compliance and adherence to Gender and Development (GAD) concerns within the organization.
The meeting was chaired by Assistant Regional Director/Officer-in-Charge Engr. Carmelo Enrique B. Libot, CESO V, together with Provincial Director (PD) Mario A. Baterna of DILG Zamboanga del Norte, PD Dave M. Barrot of DILG Zamboanga del Sur, PD Oliver B. Ombos of DILG Zamboanga Sibugay, City Director Alvin Rex M. Lucero of DILG Zamboanga City, CLGOO Arnel O. Alvarez of DILG Isabela City, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Willibald Patrick P. Paglinawan and LGCDD Chief Jehanne Lorelei A. Rodrigo.
The activity gathered members of the GFPS Executive Committee to assess current GAD implementation efforts, identify existing gaps and concerns, and formulate appropriate interventions to strengthen gender mainstreaming initiatives across the region.
Key discussions focused on sustaining compliance with national GAD policies, reinforcing institutional mechanisms, and enhancing coordination among offices to ensure the effective integration of gender-responsive approaches in programs, projects, and activities.
The committee also emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring, capacity development, and strengthened advocacy initiatives to further improve the implementation of GAD-related programs and initiatives within DILG Region IX and among local government units.
Through the meeting, the DILG IX GFPS Executive Committee reaffirmed its commitment to advancing gender equality, inclusivity, and responsive governance by ensuring that GAD principles remain embedded in organizational systems and public service delivery.
