Zoom Teleconference – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region IX successfully conducted a two-hour virtual orientation on the Synergy in Capacitating LGUs in Local Development and Urban Planning (SCALE UP) Program, drawing participation from local government units (LGUs) with outdated or lacking Comprehensive Development Plans (CDPs).
Held via Zoom from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, the activity aimed to introduce and promote the SCALE UP Program—an initiative of DILG IX that provides technical assistance to LGUs in the formulation of their CDPs, in partnership with Local Resource Institutes (LRIs).
The orientation highlighted the program’s objectives, mechanics, and benefits, emphasizing that while technical support is offered at no cost, participating LGUs are expected to shoulder logistical expenses for their respective planning teams.
In his opening remarks, Assistant Regional Director Carmelo Enrique B. Libot, CESO V, underscored the importance of up-to-date CDPs in guiding local development priorities, especially in light of the evolving demands of urban and rural planning.
Through a discussion and an online expression of interest form, several LGUs expressed their intention to avail of the SCALE UP Program following the orientation. These LGUs recognized the program as an opportunity to align their development strategies with current data and inclusive, participatory approaches.
DILG IX also encouraged other LGUs—even those not initially identified as priority participants—to express interest and explore future opportunities under SCALE UP.
For further inquiries or to signify intent to participate, LGUs may still access the Expression of Interest Form via bit.ly/EOI-SCALEUP.
