Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX actively engaged in promoting local governance and community involvement through its involvement in the Capacity Development of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the Local Special Bodies and Formation of the People’s Council of Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay. This event occurred at Bazak Resort, Namnama, Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay.
The primary goal of this endeavor was to improve the capacities of local CSOs, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge to actively participate in the specialized bodies of the community. Additionally, the event saw the establishment of the People’s Council, a significant result that enhances citizen engagement in local governance.
The event spanned two days and included presentation from resource speakers coming from the DILG IX Regional Office, DMO III Febie L. Marquez and CDO II Jasten Dwight B. Desierto, who generously imparted their knowledge and perspectives to the attendees. Their discussion encompassed various crucial subjects pertinent to the efficient operation of CSOs within local special bodies, enhancing participants’ comprehension of their roles and obligations.
The establishment of the People’s Council at the event underscores DILG IX’s dedication to fostering grassroots democracy and citizen involvement. This council will function as a channel for the community to express their issues, play a role in decision-making, and engage actively in local governance.
