Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur – June 05, 2024 – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX successfully convened the 2nd Quarter Multi-Stakeholder Advisory Council (MSAC) Regular Meeting on June 05, 2024. The event took place at Kalikasan Hall, Hotel Guillermo, Pagadian City, and was presided over by LGRRC IX Coordinator, Alvin Rex M. Lucero.
Capacity Development Facility Head, LGOO VII Alvin Rex M. Lucero, discussed the current capacity development needs of the region and matched them with available interventions from National Government Agencies (NGAs). This initiative aims to ensure that the capacity development efforts are aligned and effectively address the specific needs of the Local Government Units (LGUs).
LGOO II Jannine Crysna B. Sinoy, Zamboanga Sibugay Sub-LGRC Coordinator, outlined strategies for utilizing the Fisheries Compliance Audit (FishCA) results to strengthen Region IX’s capacity development initiatives. The presentation emphasized the joint efforts with RARE Philippines to advance local fisheries management and compliance.
Representatives from Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) and Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU) highlighted their extension programs, which aim to bolster local governance initiatives and contribute academic expertise to ongoing development projects in the region.
LGOO V Meredel Fe P. Fullo, the head of the Research and Innovation Facility, suggested creating the LGRRC IX Policy Research and Innovation Consortium. This consortium is intended to promote research and innovative approaches that will enhance local governance and policy-making in Zamboanga Peninsula.
The meeting highlighted the crucial role of collaboration and strategic planning in meeting the region’s developmental needs. DILG IX is dedicated to building robust partnerships with diverse stakeholders to attain sustainable development and enhance governance in the area.
