Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur – In support of the nationwide 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX launched its local observance with a kick-off ceremony on December 1, 2025. The event, held at the DILG IX Regional Office in Balintawak, Pagadian City, inaugurated the “Orange Your Icon” movement for the campaign period from November 25 to December 12.

The ceremony was highlighted by the signing and posting of an Advocacy Statement for a VAW-Free workplace. Led by Assistant Regional Director, Engr. Carmelo Enrique B. Libot, CESO V, together with the DILG IX Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS), this act symbolizes a collective hope for a future where women and girls live free from violence, fear, and discrimination.

This activity reaffirms DILG IX’s firm commitment to the campaign’s objectives, championing a society where women are safe from violence, inequality, and discrimination. The kick-off ceremony marks the beginning of a series of advocacy initiatives designed to deepen public awareness, strengthen community engagement, and inspire unified action against all forms of violence against women across the region.

DILG IX remains steadfast in its mission to advance gender equality, strengthen policy implementation, and foster safe, empowering spaces for women and girls. As we continue this movement, we renew our call to everyone: speak up, stand strong, and take action to end violence against women.
