(Pagadian City) Twelve (12) LGUs consisting of 5 cities and 7 municipalities in region 9 are set to undergo training workshop on the formulation of their Local Climate Change Action Plan (LCCAP) to be mainstreamed in the Local Rationalized Planning System on November 11-13,2014 at Chandler Suites, Pagadian City.

These LGUs, identified as most vulnerable to disasters in Zamboanga Peninsula, include the cities of Zamboanga, Dipolog, Dapitan, Pagadian and Isabela as well as the municipalities of Bayog, Molave, Margosatubig of Zamboanga del Sur; Diplahan and Imelda of Zamboanga Sibugay; Siocon and Labason of Zamboanga del Norte.

Target participants are the City/ Municipal Risk Reduction Management Officer, Planning and Development Officer, Agriculturist or Social Welfare and Development Officer, Environment and Natural Resource officer, Local Government Operations Officer, Health Officer and SP Member on Environment from these said LGUs.

Providing participants an understanding on how vulnerability assessment helps in responding to challenges, the training also is an avenue for the LGUs  to update their ecological profile, and formulate their LCCAP which shall then be integrated in the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) or Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP).

Besides, the Climate Change Vulnerability Assessments provide essential tools for informing the development of such adaptation priorities and plans as well as development of appropriate climate adaptation strategies needed to manage effectively the un-avoidable impacts of climate change.

Further, the training has invited experts from scientific institutions such as PAGASA-DOST and MGB-DENR to provide inputs and share expertise on planning towards climate change and disaster resilience.
