Eighteen Local Government Units from Region IX were given recognition during the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) 2017 Awarding Ceremonies of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) at The Manila Hotel last November 29, 2017.
These LGUs have passed the four core areas such as ; Good Financial Housekeeping, Social Protection, Disaster Preparedness, Peace and Order and at least one essential areas – Business Friendliness and Competitiveness, Tourism Culture and the Arts, and Environmental Protection.
For this year, the SGLG have recognized 28 provinces, 61 cities and 359 municipalities that will be entitled to access the Performance Challenge Fund for development projects ranging from P3 million for provinces, P2.4 million for cities, and P2 million for municipalities.
Piloted as the Seal of Good Housekeeping back in 2010, the awards continue to raise the bar of accountability and transparency of our LGUs as it was scaled up to the Seal of Good Local Governance in 2014.
The province of Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga City were among the LGUs from Region IX were awarded. Belo are the municipalities from the region who were also recognized.
