As we usher in the year 2013, the entire workforce of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region IX is zealously renewing its commitment to continuously serve and provide its clientele quality, effective and efficient basic service delivery.
The various Programs, Projects and Activities (P/P/As) implemented by the Department shall be vigorously pursued in strong partnership with the Local Government Units (LGUs) in the entire Zamboanga Peninsula Region, all geared towards championing good local governance.
Programs which were previously launched by the Department which objectives are to promote transparency and accountability among LGUs such as the Full Disclosure Policy (FDP), Seal and Good Housekeeping (SGH) and Gawad Pamana ng Lahi (GPL), reaped positive gains resulting to more focused, goal-oriented and committed LGUs.
Further, these programs paved the way for the DILG and the LGUs at all levels through its local officials, to harmonize and coordinate their efforts towards the realization of the national goals and objectives, with the active involvement of the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
Programs designed to promote peace and development in conflict-affected LGUs such as Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig para sa Lahat (SaLinTubig) and the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PaMaNa) took off on the right track, and are to be closely monitored to ensure the attainment of the development goal of the programs, ultimately improving the lives of community.
Enhancement of LGU capacities in the area of disaster preparedness is likewise a priority, underscoring the need for LGUs to be capacitated and disaster-ready in the advent of calamities and disasters. Other equally important programs such as the Local Governance Performance Management System (LGPMS), Streamlining Business Permits and Licensing System (BPLS), among others P/P/As shall be likewise continuously monitored.
The year 2013 will surely be filled with unknown circumstances for Region IX. However, with dedication and commitment of our Regional and Field personnel, we can definitely take our team performance a notches higher by the end of the year.
With the support of our partner LGUs and stakeholders, it is with much optimism that we affirm that with team work, hard work and dedication, we look forward to a more productive and fruitful 2013 for all of us!
May God bless us all!
