May 10-11, 2023 | The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX conducted an orientation roll-out focused on the Business Permit and Licensing System (BPLS) and advocated on the utilization of iBPLS. This event, which was held at Hotel Guillermo, Pagadian City, was aimed to provide target Local Government Units (LGUs) the essential knowledge and technical skills required to effectively implement the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Delivery of Government Services (EODB-EDGS) Act, also referred to as Republic Act (RA) No. 11032.

The orientation roll-out unveiled the BPLS standards, derived from the collaborative issuance – ARTA-DILG-DICT-DTI 2021-01, illuminating the prerequisites and principles for optimizing both business and non-business transactions. Furthermore, the event aspired to cultivate the participants’ technical prowess in the art of automating and computerizing their workflows, harnessing the transformative power of the e-BPLS software meticulously crafted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

Delivered by LGOO VI Marione Paul V. Paner, the opening message resonated with the significance of the iBPLS software in amplifying the effectiveness and openness of local government services. Mae Dedore from DICT unfolded a detailed exposition on the remarkable attributes and advantages of the e-BPLS software, shedding light on its key role in enhancing the seamlessness of entrepreneurial ventures and facilitating a harmonious environment for citizens to thrive.

In addition, an open forum was conducted, serving as a fertile ground for participants to voice their concerns and clarifications. A number of attendees eagerly expressed their eagerness to receive comprehensive training and valuable technical guidance from DICT, with the intention of augmenting their expertise and proficiency in utilizing the e-BPLS software. Furthermore, they actively sought assistance in fortifying and broadening the spectrum of services rendered by their individual e-Business One-Stop Shop (e-BOSS) platforms.

The event marked a significant leap forward in the pursuit of streamlined and highly efficient processes within the LGUs of Region IX. By embracing the revolutionary e-BPLS software, these local governments are poised to seamlessly implement the EODB-EDGS Act, thereby making substantial contributions to enhancing the overall business landscape in the region.

As the event drew to a close, a resounding sense of optimism permeated the air, with participants eagerly expressing their unwavering dedication and zeal to apply the newly acquired knowledge and skills within their respective municipalities.
