May29, 2023 | The Department of the Interior and Local Government IX organized an orientation on Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) for personnel at the Conference Hall, DILG IX, Balintawak, Pagadian City, which was attended by the regional personnel present physically, and field personnel participating via Zoom teleconference.
The core objective of this orientation was to empower DILG IX personnel with vital insights into GEDSI, familiarize them with the fundamental principles encapsulated in Executive Order 100 regarding Diversity and Inclusion, and inspire their proactive engagement as champions for a society that embraces inclusiveness and actively addresses gender-related concerns.
The orientation welcomed a diverse assembly of DILG IX regional and field personnel, encompassing individuals with multifaceted backgrounds and responsibilities. This vibrant mix of participants was strategically selected as the primary recipients of valuable insights on gender equality, disability rights, and social inclusion. Their active involvement played a pivotal role in guaranteeing the widespread dissemination of this knowledge across different organizational tiers, empowering them to embed inclusive policies and practices within their individual spheres of influence.
Gemma R. Macatangay, Chief of the Local Administrative Development Division of the Bureau of Local Government Development, took center stage as the sole Resource Person during the orientation. With her profound mastery of the subject matter, Ms. Macatangay skillfully navigated the participants through the diverse dimensions of GEDSI and Executive Order 100.
During the orientation, the participants immersed themselves in the depths of gender equality, disability rights, and social inclusion. They explored the unique complexities faced by marginalized and vulnerable communities, recognizing the significance of fostering an inclusive atmosphere that celebrates diversity. Moreover, they acquired a holistic grasp of the principles set forth in Executive Order 100, designed to advance inclusivity and diversity within the government domain. Through lively group discussions, the participants enthusiastically exchanged their viewpoints and innovative concepts on effectively championing an all-encompassing society.
