To showcase the efforts of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) in the campaign against illegal drugs, the DILG Region IX invited select barangays from the region to display their creativity, teamwork, and competitiveness by setting up a booth at Boulevard Functional Hall, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte, on May 24, 2023. The purpose of the booth is to highlight their good practices and demonstrate their commitment to achieving the goal of a drug-free community.

This BIDA Caravan activity aims to maximize the promotion of government efforts and encourage participation from all sectors of the community to successfully advocate drug supply and demand reduction. It also hopes to encourage the replication of best practices among the barangays within the region.

The activity was organized as part of the series of activities of the BIDA Caravan of DILG Region IX in cooperation with the City Government of Dipolog City through the DILG Dapitan City Office.

During the activity, participating Barangays were judged based on their booth display and presentation by a panel of judges composed of DILG IX Regional Director Paisal O. Abutazil, CESO III; Hon. Mayor Darel Dexter T. Uy of Dipolog City; PNP Provincial Director of Zamboanga del Norte, PCOL Glenn Dulawan; DMO V Dr. Jane Jaug of DOH ZDN; Assistant Provincial Officer of PDEA ZDN IA I, Draude Tan; and DILG Central Office NBOO Representative, LGOO II Lovilyne Dugas.

Below are the list of Barangays who actively participated in the BADAC ang BIDA activity with their respective wining places:

ZAMBOANGA CITY

  • Barangay Licomo (1st Place)
  • Barangay Zambowood (2nd Place)

ISABELA CITY

  • Barangay Menzi (5th Place and People’s Choice)
  • Barangay Baluno (4th Place)

ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE

  • Barangay Balas, Labason, Zamboanga del Norte (3rd Place)

The event was opened by DILG Provincial Director of Zamboanga del Norte, Oliver B. Ombos. Also present to grace the activity were Jose Ruel D. Trobanos, LGMED Chief; Elmer L. Egama, LGMED Assistant Division Chief; Sherrie Charlota N. Machutes, CLGOO of Dipolog City; NBOO Representatives Mabel Rodriguez, PDO II; and Lovilyne Dugas, LGOO II. BLGS-PADS PMO Representatives led by Keith P. Lagmay, PCMD Assistant Division Chief; Joylyn Marie Manuel, PDO III; and Darren Guiang, PDO III, were also in attendance, along with other DILG IX Regional and Provincial Office personnel.
