Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur – With the aim of fostering collaboration and facilitating the exchange of knowledge, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX organized a successful knowledge exchange activity in partnership with Bureau of Fire Protection IX. The event, which took place on June 13, 2023, at the Conference Hall of DILG IX in Balintawak, Pagadian City, served as a platform for representatives from both agencies to share insights and discuss best practices across different aspects of their operations.

The activity began with Assistant Regional Director Carmelo Enrique B. Libot extended a cordial welcome on behalf of DILG IX Regional Director Paisal O. Abutazil. ARD Libor conveyed his appreciation for the attendees’ presence and underscored the importance of exchanging knowledge to promote synergy and collaboration among government agencies.

SINSP Blesila M. Rabago of BFP IX provided an explanation for the knowledge exchange activity, emphasizing the importance of learning from different agencies and the potential for implementing successful strategies across organizations. This paved the way for a stimulating and enlightening conversation regarding best practices in various critical domains.

Aime G. Gregorio, as the Head of the Personnel Unit at DILG IX, took charge of facilitating a discussion focused on the essential components of human resource management within the PRIME-HRM Level 2 framework. This encompassing approach includes various aspects such as recruitment, selection, and placement; learning and development; performance management; and rewards and recognition.

Throughout the session, participants actively exchanged their personal experiences, discussed challenges faced, and shared innovative approaches, all of which contributed valuable insights towards enhancing HR practices in both agencies. By adopting PRIME-HRM Level 2, agencies gain access to a structured framework that enables them to enhance their HR practices and effectively manage their workforce.

BFP IX seized the occasion to showcase two of their exemplary methods that captured the participants’ favorable notice and curiosity. The first notable practice emphasized the commemoration of retiring personnel, where BFP IX demonstrated their strategy for acknowledging the invaluable contributions of their employees who are concluding their service. This approach underscored the significance of expressing appreciation and reverence for their unwavering dedication.

The second exemplary procedure centered on the repurposing of defective equipment into mementos for visitors. BFP IX demonstrated their inventive method of reusing old items into significant gifts – clocks, lamps, and pen holders – for guests and visitors. This inventive strategy not only decreased waste but also served as a distinctive means to demonstrate their dedication to sustainability and ingenuity.

During his concluding remarks, ARD Libot conveyed his gratitude for the productive knowledge exchange and underscored the significance of ongoing cooperation between DILG IX and BFP IX. He urged all attendees to implement the insights gained from the event and actively seek additional avenues for collaboration to improve the efficacy and efficiency of their respective agencies’ functions.

The knowledge exchange between DILG IX and BFP IX served as a valuable opportunity to exchange best practices, promote collaboration, and reinforce the relationship between the two agencies. With a shared dedication to ongoing improvement and learning, both organizations are in a favorable position to amplify their services and make meaningful contributions to their communities’ advancement.
