The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX is pleased to declare its enthusiastic involvement in the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) with the launch of “The Oranga Exhibit.” A ribbon-cutting ceremony has been slated for November 28, 2023, signifying the initiation of this meaningful presentation.

The Orange Exhibit is a poignant journey through time, encapsulating DILG IX’s unwavering commitment to eradicate violence against women. Initiated in 2002, when the Philippines joined the global movement against VAW, the exhibit serves as a testament to the decades of dedicated efforts in advancing discussions on this pervasive social issue.

Being actively involved in the 18-Day Campaign, led by the Philippine Commission on Women and spanning from November 25 to December 12, 2023, DILG IX strives to increase awareness and champion the eradication of violence against women in all its manifestations. “The Orange Exhibit” functions as a compelling platform for contemplating the accomplished milestones, legislative victories, and the lasting influence of the campaign on society.

This distinctive display not only honors the historical  journey of the anti-VAW movement but also emphasizes its crucial contribution to instigating transformation. Since its commencement, the campaign has been pivotal in facilitating the enactment of significant legislations addressing diverse aspects of violence against women. Core focal points encompass VAW within intimate partner relationships, cases of rape, gender-based sexual harassment, and incidents of trafficking in persons.

By presenting captivating exhibits, historical artifacts, and compelling stories, “The Orange Exhibit” encourages visitors to explore the development of the campaign and its noteworthy impact on the broader societal conversation regarding violence against women.

DILG IX extends an invitation to the media, stakeholders, and the public to participate in this significant moment of contemplation and advocacy. Let us unite to reassert our dedication to constructing a society devoid of violence and promoting a culture characterized by respect and equality.
