This activity aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge and strategies to effectively address emerging risks associated with violent extremism.

Opening remarks were delivered by Paisal O. Abutazil, CESO III, Regional Director of DILG IX, setting the tone for the days ahead. The morning session continued with Dave M. Barrot, LGOO VI/OIC-LGMED Chief, providing contextualization on the NAP P/CVE module. The topics covered included legal bases, localization efforts, and the objectives of Early Warning, Prevention, and Response (EWPR).

To focus on deeper insights into the emerging risks of violent extremism and the specifics of the NAP P/CVE, Mae Ann C. Tuden, LGOO VI, delved into Lecture 1, highlighting critical aspects and strategies to mitigate these risks effectively. The day progressed with discussions on risk assessment by PMSG Juncres Ligutom and insights into indicators and conflict issues by PMSG Gretchen Tamonan, our partners from the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The activity intensified its focus with Lecture 4, led by Sendy B. Herbosa, LGOO IV/PCVE RFP, who discussed the setup of early warning systems and responsive actions crucial for preventing violent extremism.

Throughout the three-day orientation, participants from the target barangays in the City of Pagadian and the LGUs of Tukuran, Dimataling, and Labangan in the Province of Zamboanga del Sur actively engaged in learning and sharing experiences. This underscored the commitment of DILG IX to enhance local capacities in countering violent extremism. The event not only provided a platform for knowledge exchange but also fostered stronger networks among stakeholders, paving the way for more coordinated efforts in building resilient communities against extremism.

The activity stands as a testament to the dedication and collaboration of all involved, reinforcing the vital role of capacity-building initiatives in achieving lasting peace and resilience in our communities.
