San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur – On October 2-3, 2024, DMO III Febie L. Marquez and CDO II Jasten Dwight B. Desierto provided technical assistance to the Local Government Unit of San Miguel in conducting a Capacity Development (CAPDEV) program for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) within the Local Special Bodies (LSB) and in the formation of the People’s Council at San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur.
A key achievement of the two-day program was the formal creation of the Local People’s Council, which is expected to play a pivotal role in local governance by giving CSOs a meaningful voice in decision-making processes.
The program also featured in-depth discussions on critical topics, including local development strategies, the operations of the Local Development Council (LDC), and the enhancement of soft skills—all aimed at empowering CSOs to collaborate effectively with the LGU in the implementation of government projects and programs.
