On Celebration of 23rd Anniversary of the Local Government Code

Meanwhile, he also encouraged Local Chief Executives to support the 23rd celebration of Local Government Code Day on October 10, 2014 with the theme, “ Ang LGUng Magaling, May Nararating”.

“This year’s theme calls for all LGUs to celebrate milestones and achievements arising from performance and excellence. Ang LGUng Magaling is recognition of each LGUs initiative to make a meaningful difference arising from the powers of local autonomy,” he said.

He underscored that the birth of the Local Government Code of 1991 gives power to LGUs to become autonomous.

“Now it has been given, then they have to celebrate it.”, he said.

He also highlighted that an LGU in support can upload photos capturing what they are proud of in the LGU in terms of achievements or results under the “ Proud Kami Sa… sub portal”.

Further, he said that observance is in pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No.63 s.1992 declaring the 10th day of October as Local Government Day in the Philippines, in commemoration of the passage of the Local Government Code of 1991.

“ I am very much thankful to the tri-media in Region 9 and  for joining with us in this special activities” he said in closing.
