Pagadian City –Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region IX thru the Project Development and Monitoring Unit (PDMU) successfully facilitated training – workshop on Detailed Engineering Design (DED) Preparation and Procurement for 2014 Grassroots Participatory Budgeting Process (GPBP) for 22 municipalities in Zamboanga Peninsula.

The said training was attended by 2014 GPP – water recipient municipalities from the three provinces last November 24 – 27, 2014 at Hotel Guillermo, Pagadian City.

These recipient  local government units (LGUs)  include Godod, Gutalac, Jose Dalman, Kalawit, Labason, Liloy, Manukan, Mutia, Rizal, Sibuco and Sibutad of Zamboanga del Norte; Bayog, Dimataling, Dumingag, Guipos, Lapuyan, Pitogo, Ramon Magsaysay, San Miguel and Vicenzo Sagun of Zamboanga del Sur; and Imelda and Buug of Zamboanga Sibugay.

Attending from the LGUs were the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC), Municipal Engineer (ME) or Water Supply Supervisor (WSS) and the Sangguniang Bayan Member on Infrastructure. The Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator and the Provincial Engineers from the Provincial Governments of Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga del Sur were also attending.

In an opening message, DILG IX Regional Director Paisal O. Abutazil emphasized that the Detailed Engineering Design (DED) is crucial for the projects implemented in the region, being one of the requirements for the releasing of funds.

“Region IX is still at 38% in fund utilization while other regions are already at 85%. Hence, the LGUs need to fast track their submission of said documents for the funds to be released before the year ends and so that the allocation will not be reverted and realigned for other purposes”.

The said training workshop is still part of the series of capacity development programs of the Department, intended to capacitate the recipient municipalities on Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig Para sa Lahat (SaLinTubig) Program under Grassroots Participatory Process (GPP)
