The Department of the Interior and Local Government IX conducted a regional training on the Formulation of Local Climate Change Action Plan (LCCAP) 2016 in two batches spearheaded by Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division (LGMED) last October 19-21 and October 25-27 respectively.
LCCAP provides LGUs key actions which enhance adaptive capacity and resilience of communities and natural ecosystems to climate change, adopt the total economic valuation of natural resources and ensuring biodiversity conversation. In relation to this, Memorandum Circular 2014-135 dated 21 October 2014 was released by DILG to set the guidelines for the formulation of the Local Climate Change Action Plan for the local government units wherein primarily outlining the specific programs and strategies for climate change adaptation and mitigation. In regards to this, Municipalities from Kalawit, Sibutad, Polanco, Piñan, Siayan, Mutia, La Libertad, Rizal and Dapitan City from Zamboanga del Norte, while R.T Lim and Tungawan both coming from Zamboanga Sibugay participated in the formulation training held at Monina’s Pension House, Dapitan City on October 19-21.
The first set of participants was immediately followed by batch two wherein the Municipalities of Midsalip, Labangan, Vincenzo Sagun, Josefina, Tigbao, Aurora, Tambulig, San Pedro, and Molave from Zamboanga del Sur, while Kabasalan, Buug and Olutanga were from Zamboanga Sibugay paticipated the said training on October 25-27 at Hotel Guillermo, Pagadian City.
This training aimed to organize a core team for LCCAP formulation per LGU and to prepare a Re-entry Plan on the formulation of the LCCAP until its completion, which will then be subjected for approval by the Local Chief Executives and be adopted by the Sangguniang Bayan.
