About 6,777 attended the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Roadshow on Federalism last October 4, 2018 at the Dipolog Sports Complex, Dipolog City, Zamboanga Del Norte to rally behind the President’s call to amend the 1987 Constitution.

Local Chief Executives from all over Zamboanga Peninsula along with their Barangay Captains and Saguniang Kabataan Chairperson were present in the event to show their support to the advocacy of shifting from a unitary form of government to a federal form.

Also present in the activity were members of the Consultative Committee to Review the 1987 Constitution namely; Susan Ubalde-Ordinario, Edmund Soriano Tayao, Eddie Mapag Alih, Ramon Casiple, and Ferdinand Bocobo, which discussed the details of the proposed Bayanihan Constitution.

Governor Antonio Cerilles of Zamboanga Del Sur, Governor Wilter Palma of Zamboanga Sibugay, Governor Roberto Uy, Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco were also present in the rally.

Also represented during the roadshow were members of the Civil Society Organizations and People Organization from all over the region, while members of the labor sector, transportation, senior citizen, indigenous tribe, school publication, media and other sectors have attended the Pederalismoserye town hall meeting which happened early in the morning held at Top Plaza Hotel, Dipolog City.

The members of the consultative committee also attended a media forum conducted by the DILG last October 3, 2018 at Missio Dei Hotel, Dipolog City and attended several radio and media guesting throughout Dipolog and Dapitan City.

Regional Director Paisal O. Abutazil said that these activities are part of a nation-wide campaign to advocate Federalism in the country. He added that there will be more events and meetings on Federalism to be conducted in the region. #
