Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur – Newly-hired technical and administrative staff of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX took their first steps towards excellence in public service by participating in the BACALAG 2025: General Orientation for Newly-Hired Technical & Administrative Personnel, conducted from February 22 to 28, 2025.

BACALAG, a comprehensive general orientation course, serves as a fundamental training program designed to equip new personeel with a deep understanding of DILG’s mandates, functions, and programs. The course includes a series of modules that cover organizational fundamentals, public service values, and governance principles, ensuring that participants gain essential knowledge to effectively contribute to the Department’s mission.

Beyond technical knowledge, BACALAG 2025 also integrated modules on personal development and competency enhancement, recognizing the importance of holistic growth in shaping well-rounded and highly capable public servants. Through interactive discussions, workshops, and practical exercises, participants honed their skills in communication, leadership, and problem-solving – key competencies in their respective roles. 

The orientation concluded with newly-hired personnel equipped with knowledge on DILG’s mission of empowering Local Government Units (LGUs) and promoting good governance. BACALAG 2025 provided a platform for learning, interactive discussions, and team-building activities, fostering collaboration among participants as they prepared to take on their roles in the Department.
