May 22, 2023 | With the aim of placing the well-being of its regional staff at the forefront, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX – Sports and Cultural Committee (SpoCulCom) orchestrated a significant Kick-Off Ceremony focused on physical fitness and wellness held on the DILG IX Grounds, Balintawak, Pagadian City. 

The kick-off ceremony commenced with an uplifting opening address presented by Paisal O. Abutazil, CESO III, the Regional Director of DILG IX. Director Abutazil underscored the significance of physical fitness and wellness and attaining both personal and professional triumph. His words of inspiration established the mood and atmosphere for the events that followed.  

After the opening address, the team leaders including RD Abutazil, ARD Libot, and the Division Chiefs, utilized a draw-lots mechanism to choose their  team members. This process of selecting participants and forming four teams initiated the commencement of the day’s competitive activities. The team leaders were assigned the crucial role of guiding their respective teams during the various events, with a primary focus on promoting camaraderie and teamwork. 

In order to maintain an atmosphere of fairness and sportsmanship, Chrisjoe G. Morales, LGOO II and Chairman of SpoCulCom, led the participants in taking the Oath of Sportsmanship. This important commitment served as a reminder to all attendees about the fundamental principles of honesty, respect, and collaboration that should influence their conduct during the event.

A notable moment during the kick-off ceremony that stood out was the symbolic act of lighting the torch. The team leaders, who represented their respective teams, were given the privilege of igniting the torch, which symbolically marked the beginning of the festivities. This act of lighting the flame represented unity and a shared commitment to promote physical fitness and wellness among the DILG IX regional personnel. The torch served as a guiding light, inspiring individuals to come together and strive towards a healthier lifestyle. 

The DILG IX ground exuded a vibrant atmosphere as regional personnel united in a spirited Zumba mass dance. This engaging activity not only encouraged physical movement but also nurtured a feeling of unity and delight among the participants. The lively music and synchronized choreography generated an atmosphere of happiness and festivity.

The highlight of the event was the much-anticipated Amazing Race, in which the four teams engaged in a sequence of tests, assessing both their physical and mental capacities. This exhilarating race fostered a spirit of amicable competition while underscoring the significance of collaboration and tactical decision-making.  

The conclusion of the successful kick-off ceremony was marked by a closing address from Engr. Carmelo Enrique B. Libot, CESO V, the Assistant Regional Director of DILG IX. In his speech, he extended his appreciation to all the participants for their enthusiastic engagement and emphasized the importance of prioritizing an active and healthy lifestyle.  

The event demonstrated the Department’s dedication to the holistic welfare of its regional personnel. Through offering an opportunity for physical activity, teamwork, and fostering camaraderie, the event fostered a culture of well-being and solidarity among the DILG IX community. This celebration is anticipated to motivate individuals to prioritize their personal health and well-being, resulting in enhanced productivity and a more cohesive work environment.
