The Department of the Interior and Local Government joined the City Government of Pagadian headed by City Mayor Romeo Pulmones in celebrating the 117^th Araw ng Kalayaan on June 12, 2015.

The activity was graced by Zamboanga del Sur Governor Antonio H. Cerilles and the  Sangguninang Panlungsod Officials. The celebration with the theme “Kalayaan 2015: Tagumpay sa pagbabagong nasimulan, abot-kamay na ng Bayan.” was also participated by various National Government Agencies, Civic Organizations, Non-Government Organizations and the citizens of the city.

A floral offering with the simultaneous singing of Pilipinas Kong Mahal opened the program. It was followed by a 21 – gun salute by the 1^st Infantry Tabak Troopers of the Philippine Army. The program was held at the Rizal Monument, City Hall Complex where the public who joined the celebration gathered.

The annual celebration of the Araw ng Kalayaan is prepared to commemorate the heroes and martyrs who fought for our country’s freedom.
