As we celebrate the country’s 120th year of independence, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), with the leadership of Officer In-Charge Undersecretary Eduardo M. Año, together with the Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Management led by Regional Director Paisal O. Abutazil, would like to enjoin all local government officials of the various LGUs to support the 120th Philippine Independence Day Commemorative Activities with the theme, “Pagbabagong Ipiniglaban, Alay Masaganang Kinabukasan.”

Regional Director Abutazil exclaimed the importance of celebrating independence as a means of honoring those who have fought hard for our freedom. He added that the theme had encapsulated the very essence of why we struggle to fight for independence since freedom gives us the hand to direct our future.

In a Memorandum Circular No. 2018-68 dated May 11, 2018, Usec. Año instructed all Provincial Governors, City Mayors, Municipal Mayors, DILG Regional Directors, ARMM Regional Governor to conduct simple but meaningful commemorative activities such as, flag-raising and wreath-laying rites, display of Philippine flag in LGU offices, civic parade and other related activities in their respective localities.

Likewise, the DILG central office will also hold an Independence Day Diskwento Caravan, Job Fair, Pampamahalaang Programa at Serbisyo and Static Display, at the Burnham Green, Rizal Park, Manila, on June 11-12, 2018. #
