Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur – In line with the 2025 National Women’s Month celebration, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX conducted an Orientation on the Code of Conduct Against Sexual Harassment and Establishing the CODI and the Procedure in Handling Sexual Harassment Complaints at the DILG IX Conference Room on March 21, 2025.
The activity, attended by DILG IX Regional Office personnel, aimed to reinforce awareness of workplace policies against sexual harassment and strengthen the role of the Committee on Decorum and Investigation (CODI) in ensuring a safe and respectful work environment.
Atty. Angelika U. Vega, the resource person for the session, provided an in-depth discussion on the legal framework governing sexual harassment in the workplace, including the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act and the Safe Spaces Act. Atty. Vega emphasized the responsibility of government institutions in upholding a zero-tolerance policy on sexual misconduct and ensuring that employees are aware of their rights and avenues for redress.
The orientation also detailed the process of filing, investigating, and resolving complaints, highlighting the essential role of CODI in handling cases with confidentiality, impartiality, and due process. Participants engaged in discussions and scenario-based exercises to deepen their understanding of proper complaint handling and preventive measures.
DILG IX continues to advocate for gender-responsive governance and workplace policies that promote a culture of respect, dignity, and equality. The activity is part of the agency’s commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive work environment for all employees.
