The Department of the Interior and Local Government Region IX held a Regional Management Conference with the Provincial Directors, City Directors, City and Municipal Local Government Operations Officers to discuss the department’s thrust and priority programs of the Duterte Administration held last April 4, 2018 at Garden Orchid Hotel, Zamboanga City.
Regional Director Paisal O. Abutazil spearheaded the meeting and emphasized the commitment of the Zamboanga Peninsula Region in strengthening the department’s advocacies and projects. One of which is the strengthening of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) and its functionality. According to the Regional Director, the government is really serious in its Anti-Illegal Drugs Campaign.
Moreover, to further deepen the understanding of DILG’s Field Officers on the government’s advocacy on Federalism, the regional management invited Mr. Ramon Casiple, Executive Director, Institute for Political and Electoral Reform to discuss its major concepts. Regional Director Abutazil stressed the importance of the campaign and tasked the MLGOOs to relay the concepts they have learned to their LGUs and communities.
The Regional Management Council Meeting was attended by the: Provincial Directors of Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Zamboanga del Norte; Zamboanga City Director; Pagadian, Dipolog, Dapitan, and Isabela CLGOOs, and MLGOOs of the three provinces.
The participants were also updated on other programs of the department such as the status of their locally funded projects (Assistance to Municipalities, Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig sa Lahat), ISO 9001-2015 Quality Management System, Seal of Local Governance, Disaster Risk Reduction measures among others.
The Regional Director thanked the field officers for their continuing support and dedication to the programs and advocacies of the department. #
