Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur – February 13, 2024 – In its ongoing endeavors to advance gender equality and awareness, the Regional Office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX organized a session on Gender Fair Language. This event took place at the Conference Hall of DILG IX, Balintawak, Pagadian City. 

The gathering on February 13, 2024, witnessed enthusiastic involvement from DILG IX Regional Office personnel, who convened with the aim of improving their grasp and application of gender-inclusive language in their communication methods. 

DILG IX Regional Director Paisal O. Abutazil, CESO III, conveyed the significance of gender-sensitive language in cultivating a work environment that is inclusive and respectful during the opening address. 

The orientation included A1C Gregory Louis C. Magbanua, PAFR, CFMP, who serves as a Gender and Development Specialist II at the Philippine Commission on Women – North Mindanao Field Office, serving as the session’s resource person. He shared invaluable perspectives and actionable techniques for integrating gender-sensitive language into daily communication practices.

The orientation emphasized the importance of language in influencing perceptions and attitudes regarding gender, highlighting how the use of gender-inclusive language supports the advancement of diversity, fairness, and inclusivity both within the workplace and in broader contexts. 

Through activities like this orientation, the DILG IX Regional Office reiterates its dedication to promoting gender equality and cultivating an atmosphere where everyone, regardless of gender, is esteemed and appreciated.
