Zoom Teleconference – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX took a significant step towards fortifying child-friendly local governance with its recent virtual Reorientation on the 2023 Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA).

On January 23, 2024, key personnel of the DILG IX and functionaries from the Local Government Units (LGUs) gathered virtually via Zoom Teleconference for a thorough session aimed at improving their comprehension and application of the guidelines outlined in the 2023 CFLGA.

The proceedings commenced with a perceptive introduction delivered by Alvin Rex M. Lucero, the Division Chief of DILG IX Local Government Capability Development Division. He initiated the event by highlighting the crucial responsibility that local governments bear in safeguarding the well-being and protection of children within their respective areas.

LGOO VI Lizzette Regine R. Boltiador extensively examined the details of the 2023 CFLGA guidelines. LGOO VI Boltiador thorough exploration of the guidelines provided participants with the essential insights required to understand and comply with the standards outlined in the audit.

One notable aspect of the reorientation was the actual demonstration of the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governments Knowledge Management System (SCFLG-KMS) User Manual, expertly presented by delegates from the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC). This hands-on session enabled attendees to acquaint themselves with the tools and resources at their disposal, thereby improving their proficiency in utilizing the SCFLG-KMS platform.

The activity provided a forum for participants to actively discuss and cultivate a collaborative atmosphere in advancing child-friendly local governance. The online format facilitated widespread participation from local government units throughout the region, promoting a diverse interchange of ideas and experiences.

DILG IX continues its dedication to enabling LGUs to establish settings that prioritize the well-being and rights of children. By undertaking initiatives like the regional reorientation, the Department persistently leads the way in promoting practices that foster child-friendly governance.
