Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte – April 07, 2024 – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX recently took part in the Pre-Launching of the Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay (HAPAG) Project in Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte. The event was attended by Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Felicito A. Valmocina from the DILG Central Office, along with DILG IX Regional Director Paisal O. Abutazil, CESO III, Provincial Director Oliver B. Ombos joined Sibuco Municipal Mayor Joel C. Ventura, OIC Regional Director Julius L. Mabini of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), and members of the Subanon Community in Sibuco.
The HAPAG Project, initiated as a component of NCIP’s dedication to uplifting Indigenous Cultural Communities and Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) across the nation, seeks to offer enduring solutions to meet the nutritional requirements of Indigenous communities.
This effort also aims to safeguard and honor their diverse cultural heritage. The event marked the official introduction of the prototype model for the HAPAG program, envisioned to inspire hope and stimulate positive transformation in comparable communities nationwide.
During the event, USEC Felicito A. Valmocina delivered a message emphasizing the significance of the HAPAG Project in bolstering the health and welfare of Indigenous communities, while also acknowledging their priceless contributions to the nation’s cultural diversity.
The launch signifies a major stride in fulfilling the government’s pledge to uphold the welfare of ICCs/IPs and guarantee their active involvement in nation-building endeavors.
