Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX successfully launched the KALINISAN (Kalinga at Inisyatiba para sa Malinis na Bayan) sa Bagong Pilipinas Program earlier today, January 06, 2023. The event took place in Barangay San Jose, Pagadian City, the showcase barangay for this groundbreaking initiative. 

In accordance with the goals specified in DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2024-001, the KALINISAN Program represents a collaborative effort designed to promote a well-maintained and secure environment for everyone. This initiative empowers Local Government Units (LGUs) and advocates for active community involvement, honoring the valued tradition of “bayanihan.”

The launch was attended by notable figures, such as Punong Barangay Marcelino M. Dinglasa, Jr., accompanied by Barangay Kagawads, SK Officials, and barangay functionaries from San Jose. The presence of DILG IX Regional Office Personnel, the DILG Pagadian City team under the leadership of CLGOO Maribel C. Estoquia, LYDO Audrey B. Cabato, and representatives from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) IX further added significance to the occasion. 

The activity began with a heartfelt greeting from PB Dinglasa who conveyed appreciation for the joint endeavors aimed at achieving a more pristine and secure community. 

Alvin Rex M. Lucero, Chief of the Local Government Capability Development Division (LGCDD) at DILG IX, offered a comprehensive overview of the KALINISAN Program, underscoring its importance in fostering environment stewardship and enhancing community resilience. 

A message from the Regional Director Paisal O. Abutazil, CESO III of DILG IX, conveyed by CLGOO Maribel C. Estoquia, underscored the department’s dedication to backing initiatives that enhance local communities. Furthermore, the Regional Director of DOLE IX Albert Gutib, through his representative, emphasized the crucial role of collaboration in ensuring the success of these programs. 

The proceedings wrapped up with the concluding comments from Pagadian City Mayor, Hon. Samuel S. Co, delivered by LYDO Audrey Basas-Cabato. Hon. Co conveyed his positive outlook on how the KALINISAN Program is expected to enhance the overall welfare of residents in the city. 

DILG IX extends its heartfelt appreciation to all participants and stakeholders who contribute to the success of the KALINISAN Program launch. Through collective efforts, the program aims to usher in a new era of cleanliness and safety for the people of Zamboanga Peninsula and beyond.
