The Department of the Interior and Local Government IX organized a General Orientation Course and Onboarding Training for Newly Hired Personnel held on March 25-31 at the DILG IX Conference Room.
The training aimed to enrich their knowledge on the Department’s mandate and programs, and to equip them with the necessary skills to succeed in their roles.
Regional Director Paisal O. Abutazil and Assistant Regional Director Carmelo Enrique B. Libot graced the occasion with their presence, delivering stirring and uplifting messages to the participants.
Notably, this was the first General Orientation Course composed of both administrative and technical staff, underscoring the Department’s unwavering dedication to upskilling and empowering its workforce.
The orientation program consisted of a series of sessions, each addressing pertinent topics essential to the Department’s operations. Commencing with “Understanding Who We Are,” the initial session delved into the historical and evolutionary background of DILG, alongside its vision, mission, objectives, functions, values, and brand identity. The ensuing sessions spotlighted public accountability and administrative affairs, appreciation of the Department’s linkage to local governance, public ethics and accountability, personnel administration, gender and development, records management, supply and property management, and accounting and auditing regulations. The training aimed to furnish the attendees with a comprehensive grasp of the Department’s roles and duties, with expert lecturers specializing in each field.
As part of the program, a public speaking exercise was incorporated, challenging the trainees to think on their feet and respond to spontaneous inquiries. This served as an opportunity for the participants to refine their oral proficiency and exhibit their self-assurance in conveying their thoughts.
Additionally, a comprehensive assessment was conducted on the final day to measure the trainees’ acquisition of knowledge throughout the training period.
The unwavering commitment of DILG IX to empower its workforce is evident through its continuous efforts to enhance their competencies and bolster service excellence towards realizing the Department’s aspirations. These training initiatives serve as a conduit for the Department to provide its personnel with the vital proficiencies and expertise required to cater to their client’s needs with utmost proficiency.
