Zamboanga City – The Department of the Interior and Local Government IX joyously marked the 32nd Local Government Month with a grand event titled “Barangay: Kaagapay Tungo sa Tagumpay” hosted at Garden Orchid Hotel, Zamboanga City last October 24, 2023. This distinguished awarding ceremony paid homage to the enduring commitment and tireless efforts of the exceptional barangay in Zamboanga Peninsula. 

The event’s theme, “Barangay: Kaagapay Tungo sa Tagumpay,” embodies a tribute to excellence and an opportunity to glean wisdom from the finest. The exceptional barangays honored at this occasion have established commendable benchmarks in governance. Their innovative, efficient, and deeply committed approach to enhancing the well-being of their residents serves as a wellspring of motivation for the entire community to aspire to greater achievements. 

The awarding ceremony has conferred two distinguished awards to deserving and compliant recipients:

BEST PERFORMING BARANGAY ANTI-DRUG ABUSE COUNCIL (BADAC) – This recognition emphasizes the persistent initiatives and invaluable contributions of BLGUs in combatting the issue of illegal drugs. 

LUPONG TAGAPAMAYAPA INCENTIVES AWARDS (LTIA) – A recognition and incentive system that acknowledges and rewards Barangay Lupong Tagapamayapa for their exceptional efforts and achievements in promoting the amicable settlement of disputes at the community level. 

The Barangay: Kaagapay Tungo sa Tagumpay awarding ceremony not only applauds the accomplishments of these exceptional barangays but also inspires others to elevate their performance and fulfill their duties within the local government system. Through collective learning and drawing inspiration from these governance exemplars, our shared goal is to  collaboratively strive for a more promising future for Zamboanga Peninsula.
