Zamboanga City – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX took a significant step towards enhancing the effectiveness of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the development planning of barangays held at Cecille’s Hotel, Zamboanga City last September 05-06, 2023.

The Capacity Development on Enhancing CSO Effectiveness in Barangay Development Planning brought together selected CSOs from both Isabela City and Zamboanga City.

The main aim of this two-day event is to empower CSOs by equipping them with the essential knowledge and skills required to actively engage as valuable members of local special bodies.

DILG IX acknowledged the pivotal role that CSOs play in local governance and aimed to provide them with the necessary resources to effectively participate in the development planning process at the Barangay level.

The event’s highlights include: a series of insightful sessions and speeches delivered by experts in the field.

The opening message was delivered by DILG Zamboanga City Field Office City Director, Ginagene S. Vaño-Uy who set the tone for the event and emphasizing the importance of collaboration between CSOs and government agencies.

The event’s resource speakers brought a substantial reservoir of knowledge and expertise to the forefront, offering valuable perspectives on the involvement of CSOs in local governance and furnishing practical advice on their effective engagement in Barangay Development Planning.

Besides the informative sessions and speeches, the event also facilitated a chance for participants to network and collaborate, enabling CSOs from various regions to exchange their successful approaches and establish valuable relationships.

The event marked a substantial progression in bolstering the collaboration between CSOs and government entities. It equipped CSOs with the necessary expertise and competencies to actively participate in enhancing their communities, thus advancing a more inclusive and sustainable development trajectory for Isabela City and Zamboanga City. Upon their return to their respective barangays, participants left with a reinvigorated sense of mission and a dedication to collaborating closely with LGUs to serve the betterment of their communities.
