Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX actively participated during the 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held last November 09, 2023. This strategic initiative aimed to fortify earthquake preparedness and response skills among the dedicated personnel of the DILG Regional Office IX. 

The significance of the 4th Quarter NSED was heightened by its alignment with the World Tsunami Awareness Day. In synchronizing with this international awareness day, DILG IX emphasized the crucial importance of nurturing a preparedness culture highlighting the necessity for prompt and efficient response measures in dealing with natural disasters. 

The exercise functioned as a platform to heighten awareness and instruct participants on the potential repercussions of earthquakes and tsunamis in the region. It presented a distinctive chance for DILG Regional Office staff to actively participate in simulations, cultivating a practical comprehension of emergency protocols and evacuation procedures. 

The main goal of the drill was to advocate for earthquake preparedness and effective response within the workplace, guaranteeing that the DILG IX personnel are adequately prepared to manage emergency situations with accuracy and efficiency. Participants exhibited praiseworthy dedication and commitment during the exercise, showcasing the department’s steadfast commitment to the safety and welfare of its workforce. 

DILG IX extends appreciation to all participants for their active engagement and enthusiasm throughout the 4th Quarter NSED. Their dedication to improving emergency response skills reflects the department’s commitment to cultivating a resilient and well-prepared community.  

DILG IX  is committed to persistently improving the readiness of its personnel to adeptly handle diverse emergency situations. The accomplished implementation of the 4th Quarter NSED plays a pivotal role in  establishing a culture of safety and preparedness not only  within the department but also in the broader community it serves.
