Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region IX through the Water and  Sanitation Services Unit (WSSU) will conduct one-day forum on Regional Learning Events on Human Rights –Based Local Water and Sanitation Governance under MDGF 1919 at Hotel Guillermo, Pagadian City on April 30, 2013.

Identified participants are the municipalities of Alicia, Payao, Tungawan of Zamboanga Sibugay, Lapuyan, Midsalip and Tigbao of Zamboanga del Sur; Kalawit, Katipunan and Sindangan of  Zamboanga del Norte

Also included are the municipalities of Kapatagan and Wao of Lanao del Sur and 4 LGUs from Maguindanao namely: Guindulungan, Mangudadatu, Sultan Kudarat and Upi.

Expected during the forum is the presence of NEDA, NWRB, UNDP and UNICEF representatives as speakers and resource persons who will be engaged for specific activities such as facilitation of workshops/sessions, reporting ,and documentation of proceedings.

Agenda to be discussed may include topics/issues on local water governance in the region covering the different Cs: corruption, capacity-building, culture, conduct of the localized human-rights local water governance game set; presentation and discussion of successful human-rights local water governance interventions and tools e. g. Localized Customer Service Code, MW4SP, Community organizing etc.

Prime objective of the forum is to promote the results gains and tested/proven interventions to other integrated municipalities under the Salintubig and BUPB programs of the national government. Specifically, to share the knowledge products developed that can be adopted by the provinces and municipalities in implementing their water and sanitation programs.

At the end of the day, the participants’ expected outputs to the forum may include the sharing/ promotion of the interventions under the Human-rights based Local Water Governance Toolbox, gain commitments from the participants thru expressions of interest and feedback such as inputs/reactions to the learning event, technical/advisory assistance needed, future plans and next steps and video documentation highlighting shared experiences to cite a few.
