Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur – As a meaningful stride towards promoting community empowerment and addressing local challenges, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX organized the Ugnayan sa Barangay last August 24, 2023. This gathering took place in Pisompongan, Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur, and was a fundamental component of the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) Immersion.

The main objective of the Ugnayan sa Barangay was to create a direct line of communication between government officials and the residents, emphasizing DILG IX’s dedication to efficiently tackle local issues.

The event shed light on a range of significant issues confronting the residents of Pisompongan, including concerns about electricity availability, recurrent flooding, a scarcity of high school classrooms, and the absence of convenient transportation routes for moving goods to and from the village.

The Ugnayan sa Barangay gathering provided an opportunity for government officials, under the leadership of the DILG, to directly interact with the local community. Through these community dialogues, residents were afforded a platform to express their concerns and hopes, thereby facilitating the DILG team in gaining a deeper insight into the critical challenges confronting the people of Pisompongan.

In light of the concerns that were brought to their attention, the DILG IX team proactively proposed infrastructure initiatives with a clear focus on meeting the specific needs of the community. These initiatives encompassed the development and restoration of essential infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and community centers, all of which play a crucial role in elevating the overall well-being of Pisompongan’s inhabitants.

DILG IX restated its dedication to maintaining a strong partnership with Pisompongan and neighboring communities in the region. By actively participating in these kinds of initiatives, DILG IX remains committed to enhancing the well-being of residents and ensuring that government services are readily available and tailored to meet their requirements.
