May 25, 2023 – As part of the BIDA Caravan activity of DILG Region IX, a reorientation on the Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP) was conducted at the Cultural and Sports Center in Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte. The event was led by Regional Director Paisal O. Abutazil, CESO III, and targeted select Barangays in the region.

The activity was organized in coordination with the City Government of Dapitan City, under the leadership of Hon. City Mayor Seth Frederick P. Jalosjos, through the DILG Dapitan City Office.

Participants of the reorientation activity were more than 200 Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) representatives in Zamboanga del Norte. Assistant Provincial Director of PDEA Zamboanga del Norte, IA I Draude Tan, and Agent May M. Lagrina served as the resource persons.

The Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC), as the first line of defense against illegal drugs in the community, with firsthand information, has a vital role in accelerating and effectively campaigning against illegal drugs at the local level.

The event aims to reinvigorate and refresh the familiarity and efficiency of the barangays as one of the duty bearers in the implementation of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP) in the community.

Lagmay, Assistant Division Chief, BLGS-PADS PMO, DILG Central Office; Vincent Roy Eustaquio, CLGOO of Dapitan City, along with DILG Regional and Provincial Staff, NBOO Representatives, BLGS-PADS PMO Representatives, and City Governments of Dapitan personnel, were also in attendance.
