The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) released PHP37.4 million to 18 Local Government Units (LGU) as part of its Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) program.
The 18 LGUs have passed and were conferred with the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) last year, which entitles the LGUs to access the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF), and provides opportunity to access loans and avail other national program windows.
Among the LGUs who have passed the 2017 SGLG were; Province of Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga City, Labason, Manukan, Pinan, Siocon, Bayog, Dumalinao, Mahayag, Molave, Ramon Magsaysay, San Pablo, Tambulig, Tukuran, Vicenzo Sagun, Imelda, Siay and Tungawan.
The PCF is an incentive given to LGUs to support high-impact local development projects in the Annual Investment Program (AIP) and funded out of the 20% Local Development Fund consistent with the national goals and priorities. It is open to all LGUs who were passers of the Seal of Good Local Governance.
The SGLG is given to local government units with good performance in the four core areas such as ; Good Financial Housekeeping, Social Protection, Disaster Preparedness, Peace and Order and at least one essential areas – Business Friendliness and Competitiveness, Tourism Culture and the Arts, and Environmental Protection.
DILG Region IX held an orientation guidelines on the implementation of the 2017 PCF led by the Regional Director Paisal O. Abutazil, CESO III, last January 24, 2018 at Rodericks Hotel, Ipil Zamboanga Sibugay, and handed out checks to the 18 conferred LGUs ranging from P3 million for provinces, P2.4 million for cities, and P2 million for municipalities.
