Leading a nationwide advocacy on the implementation of the amended Guidelines on the Localization of the Magna Carta of Women, the Department of the Interior and Local Government – Bureau of Local Government Development (DILG-BLGD) and the Bottom-up Budgeting (BuB) Project Management Office, in coordination with DILG IX, will be hosting a Coaches’ Training on Assessing the Gender Responsiveness of BuB/Assistance to Disadvantaged Municipalities (ADM) Funded Projects on June 20-22, 2017 at the Garden Orchid Hotel, Zamboanga City.
Activities to be undertaken in this three-day event include a lecture on Gender and Development (GAD), Gender Analysis, workshops and action planning, among others.
It can be recalled that in 2016, the DILG forged a partnership with the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and issued the aforesaid guidelines, i.e., DBM-PCW-DILG-NEDA Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) No. 2016-01 or otherwise known as “Amendments to PCW-DILG-DBM-NEDA JMC No. 2013-01: Guidelines on the Localization of the Magna Carta of Women.”
The coaches’ training will be attended by 82 participants who are GAD and BuB focal persons and officers from Regions IX, X, XI, XII and XIII.
At the end of the training, participants are expected to be knowledgeable on Republic Act No. 9710 (the Magna Carta of Women Act) and the abovementioned JMC.
Finally, participants should also be able to assess gender responsive BuB/ADM funded projects, identify gender issues in the implementation thereof and learn how to review the Local Government Units’ GAD Plan and Budget.
