Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte – March 20-21, 2024 – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX organized a two-day capacity-building initiative to improve the impact of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on local development. Held on March 20-21, 2024, at the New Government Center in Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte, the program aimed to enhance CSOs’ effectiveness within Local Special Bodies (LSBs).

The objective was to enhance CSOs’ ability to actively engage in LSBs and support local development efforts. It offered CSO representatives an opportunity to improve their grasp of their roles, duties, and ways to engage effectively within LSBs. 

The program included presentations, group activities, and engaging conversations led by professionals in local governance and community development. It covered various subjects such as the roles and organization of LSBs, the legal context surrounding CSO involvement, and strategies for effective engagement.  

Participants were thankful for the program, stating that it offered them valuable knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to local development. They also emphasized the significance of ongoing capacity development efforts for CSOs to enhance their influence on local governance and development. 

The capacity development program marked a significant milestone in enhancing the collaboration between CSOs and Local Government Units (LGUs) to promote inclusive and sustainable development in Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte.
