Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – April 16, 2024 – To improve local governance and advocate for the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX organized the Deepening Sessions on the Governance Areas in the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) on April 16, 2024, at Badsbrotel Suites in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. 

The activity began with an introductory speech by Paisal O. Abutazil, CESO III, the Regional Director of DILG IX, emphasized the significance of the SGLG in acknowledging the performance of local government units (LGUs) and promoting ongoing enhancements in governance. 

Alvin Rex M. Lucero, the Chief of DILG IX’s Local Government Capacity Development Division (LGCDD), presented valuable data-driven strategies for local development through Region IX’s CapDev Analytics. Mae Ann C. Tuden, LGOO IV of DILG IX’s Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division, focused on the necessity of targeted interventions to effectively address capacity and performance gaps. 

The workshops featured a World Cafe session, which created a vibrant atmosphere for participants to share ideas, and group presentations where they showcased their outputs. These sessions promoted collaborative learning and the sharing of innovative governance approaches. 

The activity ended with a closing remark from Moh. Taha S. Arakama, the Provincial Director of DILG Zamboanga del Sur, emphasized the significance of implementing the insights gained from the sessions to enhance LGU performance and qualify for the prestigious SGLG. 

The event offered an opportunity for LGUs to enhance their comprehension of governance principles and strategies, leading to improved effectiveness and accountability in local governance across the region.
