Find out who are these financial managers and what are they doing after processing huge amount in a year?

“Financial Managers” is the term coined to those involved in the financial processing of the Department that includes the Budget Officer, the Accountant, Accounting Clerk and the Disbursing Officers. This is how Assistant Regional Director Pedro G. Cuevas Jr. who represented Regional Director Paisal O. Abutazil, referred the participants during the two-day workshop on reconciliation of Releases and Disbursements for CY 2014 on January 21-22, 2015.

The function of financial managers, according to him, is important in managing the financial resources for the efficient operation of the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region-9.

In this line, Joan A. Pelenio, the Regional OIC-Accountant, added that the workshop is not only an avenue to reconcile any discrepancies seen by the Commission on Audit (COA) but also to orient the financial managers from the provinces down to cities the latest financial guidelines of the Department.

She added that per COA advise, it was observed that there was delayed on the submission of financial report, some discrepancies in the Electronic Tax Remittance Advice ( ETRA) and lacking signatures in the financial document among others. Hence, there is a need to gather them to work together in reconciling those gaps.

ARD Cuevas, likewise, is hopeful that the workshop would be a productive jumpstart among the financial managers of the Department in the years to come.
