“Philippine Independence Day is more than just having to wave a flag and organize celebrations. It is a reminder of the self-determination of Filipinos to exercise their right to liberty and independence. It is a legitimate assertion by the Philippine nation of its natural and inalienable claim to freedom and independence, which is an inherent right of every people, not dependent upon the will and discretion of another nation or government,” he said.
He likewise presented a trivia game where everyone is challenged to recall their History 101.
In a message, Municipal Mayor highlighted the deepest symbol of the Philippine flag, its significance to the Filipino people and why we put our hands on our breast while singing the Philippine national anthem.
Immediately, the crowd, headed by the Mayor, proceeded at the Rizal monument and offered flowers and wreaths while singing the “Ang Bayan Ko”.
