Municipal treasurer, Susan A. Bayawa (center right) of the Local Government Unit of Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay claimed the second tranche release covering the barangays of Boyugan, Camanga, Bagong Silang, Kimos, Balacunan, Dacanay, Labasan, and Logpond with an accumulated amount worth P 7,000,000 (seven miliion) released by the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region IX on August 18, 2016 under the locally funded project Sagana sa Ligtas na Tubig (SALINTUBIG) Program.
The abovementioned Barangays already have existing water supply system. However, lack of maintenance has raised concerns governing the sufficiency of distributing potable and safe water to the designated beneficiaries and the rapid increase of water borne (diarrhea, amoebiasis, and skin allergies) related incidents and mortality cases have been alarming the entire community.
This allocated budget aims to take part in the rehabilitation and expansion of water system level II for the Barangays of Boyugan which will benefit 1,225 individuals with 250 households, Bagong Silang with 417 individuals, 88 households and some parts of Barangay Mahayahay, and Barangay Camanga with a population of 845 people with 169 households including some parts of Maniha, Balagon and other nearby Barangays.
Furthermore, the upgrading of Water Supply System Level III is set to serve 5 barangays of Dacanay with a population of 1,026 with 203 households, Barangay Kimos with 897 residents and 182 households, Logpond with 1,416 and 211 households and lastly, Barangay Labasan with 630 residents with 126 households.
These water systems are expected to provide support for agricultural purposes and access to safe and potable water to the residents as well as the neighboring barangays which are considered as indirect beneficiaries.
