Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur  – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX concluded its 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) with a meaningful culmination activity on December 09, 2024, at the Conference Hall, DILG IX, Balintawak, Pagadian City. The event also marked the official launching of the Men Opposed to Violence Everywhere (MOVE), a newly formed group composed of the male employees of the regional office, showcasing their dedication to gender equality and advocacy for a violence-free society.

The program was spearheaded by the men of DILG IX, who collectively recited their Pledge of Commitment as members of MOVE. Through this solemn declaration, they affirmed their role as advocates for creating a safer and more inclusive environment for women and children. Their commitment was further highlighted by their proactive efforts in organizing the activity, which featured creative performances including spoken poetry and songs, all dedicated to the women in the office as a gesture of appreciation and solidarity.

The MOVE launching was a symbolic and practical step in amplifying the role of men as active partners in ending violence against women. By taking the lead in this activity, the male employees of DILG IX demonstrated that addressing VAW is not just a women’s issue but a collective responsibility that requires the engagement of all genders.

As a culmination of DILG IX’s participation in the 18-Day Campaign to End VAW, the event reflected the Department’s alignment with the national efforts to eliminate all forms of abuse and discrimination against women. It also underscored the importance of fostering a culture of respect, inclusivity, and equality within the workplace and beyond.

The launch of MOVE at DILG IX adds to the growing network of male advocates nationwide who are committed to breaking the cycle of violence and promoting gender-responsive governance. Through their pledge and actions, the men of DILG IX have set a strong example of how male allies can contribute to creating safer spaces for women and driving meaningful change in the community.

The activity ended on a hopeful note, as the participants reaffirmed their shared mission to uphold the rights and dignity of women and to stand united in the fight against violence and inequality. With initiatives like these, DILG IX continues to champion its role as a key stakeholder in advancing gender and development goals in the region.
