18th National Crime Prevention Week (NCPW) in Region 9 will kick off on September 3 with a motorcade.

In a meeting Thursday, August 16, 2012 at the Zamboanga Del Sur Police Provincial Office, Camp Abelon, Pagadian City ,the NCPW inter-agency committee had planned several activities in preparation of the weeklong celebration by organizing the NCPW Interagency Technical Working Committee for Region 9 and formulating the 18th NCPW Regional Plan Action.

On the said meeting, RD Macapado T. Guro of NAPOLCOM and Assistant Regional Director Pedro Cuevas presided the meeting in the presence of the representatives from National Government Agencies, the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur, the City Government of Pagadian, religious sector, DILG family, and others.

After thorough planning and organizing, the Body agreed to have the present invited agencies/sectors as members of the NCPW Interagency Technical Working Committee. Part also of the agreement enlisted NAPOLCOM to prepare the programs and invitations to all participants in the over-all affair while the DILG was commissioned to take charge in inviting stakeholders in Media Forum.

Some of the activities lined-up for the crime prevention week include: awareness drive on crime and drug abuse prevention thru symposium in selected public high schools , Media Forum, among others. Information and awareness campaign also will include banner streaming, localized radio/TV guestings and symposium to drumbeat the celebration.

This year’s NCPW theme, “Sa Crime Prevention may Magagawa Ako” promotes, strengthens and empowers the citizens against crime victimization as well as enlists the public to engage in crime prevention projects of the government to increase awareness and support in promoting crime prevention, community and public safety advocacy.

In accordance to the Presidential Proclamation No. 461( s.1994), this declares the first week of September of every year as the National Crime Prevention Week (NCPW)and the National Police Commission memorandum in which all NAPOLCOM Regional Directors, DILG Regional Directors, Provincial Directors, City & Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (MLGOO), Heads of Offices, Barangay Chairpersons and all other concerns from Provincial Governors, City/ Municipal Mayors and Chairperson of Peace and Order Councils at all levels are directed to extend their full support and cooperation through active participation and involvement in the yearly observance of NCPW to ensure an intensified implementation and successful conduct of various crime prevention  projects and activities.

For the general information and active involvement, all agencies and stakeholders are requested to hang streamer celebrating the 18th NCPW. As to the activities prepared within the period, below are the schedule and the corresponding activities for guidance.

  • Symposium on Crime Prevention and Drug Abuse Prevention & Control at Dumalinao NHS, Dumalinao ZDS
  • Media Forum at 2:00PM (DILG being the incharge in coordination with the PIA)

Sept. 5 (Wednesday)
  • Symposium on Crime Prevetion and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control at Tukuran NHS, Tukuran ZDS

Sept. 6 (Thursday)
  • Rest Day

  • Closing Ceremonies (to be held at Pagadian City Hall Conference Room with the support of the City Government.
