Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – The Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) IX recently convened for its 3rd quarter meeting at Badsbrotel Suites, under the leadership of Hon. Dulce Ann K. Hoffer, the RPOC Chairperson and the Provincial Governor of Zamboanga Sibugay.
Stakeholders provided updates on the status of peace and order and public safety situation in Region 9. Local law enforcement agencies reported the efforts and gains on anti-insurgency and anti-terrorism campaign, anti-illegal drugs operations, and the proposed regional security plan for Region 9.
The meeting highlighted the commitment to enhancing peace and order in the Zamboanga Peninsula, briefly discussing the potential inclusion of Sulu Province in Region 9. While progress has been made, challenges persist. The council aims to foster collaboration among stakeholders and implement comprehensive security strategies to ensure a safer environment for residents. Continued vigilance and community engagement will be essential for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
The council emphasized the importance of collaboration between local government units (LGUs), law enforcement, and community engagement to strengthen community resilience against the threat to peace and order in Zamboanga Peninsula.
